Not only an essential part of most people’s morning routines, coffee has found it’s way into the beauty world via the huge trend of coffee body scrubs.

Apart from providing an instagram social media photo opportunity for some, these yummy smelling yet shower messing scrubs provide a range of benefits for your skin.

Why coffee scrubs?

  • Coffee grounds are a natural exfoliant, and when teamed with other ingredients such as coconut oil and sea salt it helps to create the perfect natural exfoliant and provide a better alternative to other chemical laden scrubs
  • Caffeine as the main ingredient helps to tighten the skin, reduce swelling, inflammation and cellulite and is also loaded with anti-oxidants to help fight against aging, sun spots and wrinkles
  • Exfoliating helps to renew the skin by scrubbing away any dead skin cells and revealing the new, healthy skin underneath
  • Exfoliating and caffeine also help to stimulate blood flow and improve circulation, resulting in smooth and glowing skin!

As I have previously worked in the beauty industry, I’ve been fortunate to try a range of different scrubs. Most recently I tried the Bean Body scrub with mandarin, and it’s definitely been my favourite so far! Some other scrubs I’ve used I found to be quite harsh on my skin and sometimes actually left it feeling quite irritated after, but the Bean Body scrub is super soft and smooth and my skin feels amazing afterwards!

As well as the benefits mentioned from coffee scrubs above, this one contains coconut oil to hydrate and moisturise the skin (who doesn’t love a bit of coconut oil?!) and cocoa and vitamin e which are both high in antioxidants to help nourish and rejuvenate the skin.

I really love the scent of this one too, and they also have a range of different coffee scrubs available including Coco Berry, Manuka Honey, Peppermint, Vanilla and a facial scrub as well. All of the products also use organic and natural ingredients, are cruelty free and contain no parabens or GMOs.

To use, simply hop in the shower and wet your skin, then apply in circular motions all over your body. Wait about five minutes and rinse off. Being a typical Gen Y I didn’t originally read the instructions with coffee scrubs and used to just use under the shower as you would a typical wash or scrub, but leaving it for a while before washing off lets the ingredients soak in, and makes a huge difference.

So if it’s smooth, healthy, glowing skin via all natural and organic ingredients you’re after I highly recommend trying Bean Body scrub yourself!
