About Me

Hi! My name is Sophie. A Melbourne based self proclaimed nerd, gym junkie and lover of all things creative, tasty and well designed!

In 2010 I moved to Melbourne and found what I thought was my dream job in beauty buying. I worked with some great people and got some great perks too, but the long hours and stressful environment definitely didn’t do my health any favours. Being seated at a desk pretty much all day didn’t help either, and fuelling my work hours with sugar and tasty foods I slowly started to gain more and more weight, until I started seeing photos of myself that I hated and I realised that it was time for a change.

My health was getting worse and worse, and I was always told the same generic response by doctors “it’s just a virus, it’s going around this time of year”. After struggling through lots of sickness I finally saw a natural health practitioner who helped kickstart my health and fitness journey. Focusing on my diet I lost 10kg, and then finally found a love of weight training too.

Most things in life aren’t a linear journey upwards, and this was the case for me too. While I was definitely a lot better, I ended up being diagnosed with two autoimmune disorders: narcolepsy and ankylosing spondylitis. My lifestyle change help me to manage these fairly well, however there was one final factor that wasn’t helping – job related stress.

I finally decided in 2017 to quit my current career, and without a plan see where my journey would take me. I ended up freelancing for a few years doing what I loved the most: website design, social media management, graphic design and working on this blog too.

In 2020 I launched this as a proper web design studio: Kitsune Creative Co. My health is still very much a journey for me, but I’m so glad I have more control and I also gave myself the gift of living a lifestyle which helps me manage this – and that I absolutely love too!

but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer!
