Green Tea X50 Vita Matcha review

I’ve always been a fan of Green Tea X50 and I also LOVE matcha, but honestly I was a little sceptical about how they would work together in a product – as they’re both quite different flavours (the Green Tea X50 sachets I’d tried before were sweet flavours, with matcha having quite a subtle, yet distinct taste).

HOWEVER, I was definitely very pleasantly surprised!

I had a previous review of Green TeaX50 a few years ago on my old blog which sadly got lost in the host transfer, so for those who don’t know about this product – here’s a quick summary:

What is Green Tea X50?

As the name suggests, it’s a super concentrated green tea drink, to give you a huge dose of the benefits of green tea in just one drink! I love green tea on it’s own, but these come in a range of flavours which would also be perfect for those who don’t love the taste of traditional green tea.

So, what is Green Tea X50 Vita Matcha?

It’s an upgrade on the already amazing original, with (as the name suggests) added matcha extract as well as added goji berry, magnesium and B6 – a powerhouse team of nutritional goodies!

Let’s take a look at some of the health benefits each ingredient provides:

Matcha

I recommend checking out my full post on the health benefits of matcha here, however to quickly summarise it’s SUPER high in antioxidants, can boost the metabolism, helps the body’s natural detox pathways and also helps to boost the immune system. Thanks to l-theanine it helps to boost mental alertness without caffeine jitters, boost mood and also improve memory and learning ability.

Goji Berry

Goji berries are another super food which are packed with antioxidants as well as other nutritional goodies including vitamin C, protein and minerals like copper, iron, selenium and zinc. Thanks to all of the nutrients they provide they’re beneficial for a range of health functions, including cholesterol management, improving blood sugar levels and boosting immune system function.

A diet high in anti-oxidants is vital for helping the body to avoid oxidative stress and fight harmful free radicals, which lead to ageing and a number of diseases.

Goji berries have also been studied for their energy boosting properties, with results showing an increase in exercise performance and recovery.

Magnesium

Magnesium is one of the best nutritional supplements to take, as definiciences can create huge issues. Craving chocolate? Then you may be low in magnesium!

It’s vital for a huge range of our body’s natural functions including bone health, converting our food into energy, nervous system regulation, calcium absorption, muscle contraction and relaxation, gene maintenance and so much more!

Vitamin B6

Our bodies can’t product Vitamin B6 (pyroxine) so it’s important we get this via our food. Like magnesium it also plays an important role in a wide variety natural functions for our body. It’s also vital for magnesium absorption, so it’s important they are consumed together.

Some of the main benefits of B6 include mood boosting and regulation, improving cognitive function, helping to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and can also help to reduce nausea and morning sickness for pregnant women.

My thoughts

As mentioned, I wasn’t sure how this would taste but I actually love it more than the original! I tried out the summer fruits box which contains the flavours: acai berry, pomegranate, mango, strawberry kiwi, lemon & lime and passionfruit – acai and pomegranate are my favourites!

Obviously all of the health benefits are amazing, but generally I’m just obsessed with it for the taste and it’s become my new favourite afternoon pick me up (replacing coffee!). It’s slightly thicker than the original, both of which you just simply mix with cold water, and it actually tastes a bit like fruit juice. Because it’s so similar to juice I’m also going to take it home for my parents to try, and hopefully replace their morning fruit juice addiction (which I’ve been trying to remove for a few years now…)

The summer fruits box is $54.95 and contains 60 servings which works out to be less than $1 per serve (a lot cheaper than your afternoon coffee shop latte!), and it’s also available in individual flavours. Plus, each box also contains a meal plan guide – which is perfect for those who want a good, basic guide on some healthy meals to prep!

You can purchase direct from the Greenteax50 website (also make sure you check out their broccoli chips – they’re so good!) and use discount code SophieJ or also from ASN with my code SOPHIE10!
