Kombucha (pronounced kômˈbo͞oCHə) is a massive health trend at the moment, and for good reason! I’m loving that everyone is starting to learn more about the importance of gut health for general wellbeing and overall health.

What is Kombucha?

Originally known as the “immortal health elixir” by the Chinese, originating back over 2000 years ago, this drink may not provide immortality, but it definitely has some great health benefits. Kombucha is a fermented tea, made from a black or green tea base and sugar, fermented using a “symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast” (SCOBY). It’s this colony of “good” probiotic bacteria which help to provide all of the gut loving health benefits, also combined with the antioxidant goodness from tea.

What health benefits does Kombucha provide?

As you may have read in my previous posts, gut health is SO important! Our guts are basically our second brain, and if there are problems here, then we’re going to have other health issues everywhere else in our body too.

The good bacteria in Kombucha can help to:
  • Re-balance the population of good bacteria in the gut, which is especially important after a round of antibiotics, after travel sickness or for those with a generally poor diet
  • Help to defend against the “bad” bacteria and fight infections which can make us sick
  • Support our immune system
  • Aid digestion and our digestive processes, and help to provide support against digestive system issues and illnesses
  • Assist the body’s natural detoxification process

Where to find Kombucha

If you’re super keen you can get your hands on some SCOBY and brew at home, or easily find a premade drink in most health stores and also supermarkets now! Or, you can also now find the goodness of these drinks in capsule form, such as the new Body Science Probiotic Kombucha Capsules!

Body Science Probiotic Kombucha Capsules

While I still love Kombucha drinks, Body Science Probiotic Kombucha capsules are a super convenient and also more budget friendly way of adding the gut loving goodness into your daily supplement routine. Each little tub contains 60 capsules, or 30 serves, which are packed full of 10 billion CFU’s (colonity forming units). Each serve is also equal to 10 standard kombucha drinks!

Plus, the capsules are:

  • Organic
  • Gluten & GMO Free
  • Vegan friendly
  • Caffeine & alcohol free
  • Contain less sugar than the majority of pre-made Kombucha drinks available

To take, you can either split open the capsules and easily blend into smoothies, yoghurt or drinks (great if you’re someone who hates swallowing tablets), or otherwise just take as normal capsules.

Where can I find?
