Good health begins in the gut, however thanks to modern diets and antibiotic overuse most people’s gut health can be on the average side. This then leads to health concerns including poor immune system function, inflammatory diseases, obesity and low moods.

One of the things we can do to improve this, alongside a healthy and balanced diet, is to build up our army of good bacteria via a probiotic supplement or food as well as prebiotics. A great example of a probiotic food is kefir, a naturally fermented yoghurt.

I definitely need more gut loving foods in my diet, so I decided to try and be fancy and create a gut loving, superfood, protein packed acai berry bowl with kefir as the base!

To make, simply blend:
  • 150ml kefir
  • 1 banana
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tsp acai berry powder
  • 1 tsp maca
  • 1/2 tsp cacao
  • 1 tsp manuka honey

Then top with whatever extra goodies you like and enjoy!
